It’s important to everyone that their parent or loved one is supported by Care Assistants that will show respect and treat them with dignity and compassion.

Equally important is that the carers who are invited into someones home to support them can be trusted.

MyLife employs a strict process of recruiting and vetting the right staff. Firstly we take great care in selecting each Care Assistant and interview them using competency based questions. The interview technique is designed so that they demonstrate their understanding of what respect is and what dignity means. They are also asked some scenario questions focussed on care and support work, to determine if they have the thinking skills required to perform in their role. This helps us to understand more about them, what their strengths are, and where they will need more support.

If they are successful, the next stage is to run security checks and gather references from previous employers.

Security checks are completed via the Security and Disbarring Service (DBS), which means they are checked to see if there are any criminal records;  past, current or pending. Shadowing does not start until these checks have been completed.

We take every measure necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the people we support.
